How to use our
Google Data Studio Connector
Follow these simple steps to get started with Sudonum's Data Studio Connector

Step 1: Go to the Sudonum Data Studio Connector

Follow this link. You can also find the connector directly from Data Studio by clicking on Create, selecting Data Source and searching for “Sudonum”.

Step 2: Connect with your Google account to create a data source

Click on the blue "Create Data Source" button that appears when you hover over the Sudonum Data Connector.

The connector will load with the message "Data Studio requires authorisation to use this community connector". Click on the "Authorise" button and choose the account that you want to connect with and a pop-up window will load, telling you that the Sudonum Data Connector wants to access your Google account. This will link your Google account to the connector service. Click on “Allow” to continue.

Step 3: Log in with your Sudonum API login details

Once you’ve linked your Google account, the connector will reload and a “Credentials” category will appear next to the “Authorise” category. You now need to enter your Sudonum API username and password in the “Credentials” category.

Step 4: Set your data query parameters

If your Sudonum username and password are valid, a form will load where you can enter your query parameters for the data you would like to load intoData Studio.

Please note the following rules, which apply to all data queries:

Entering no parameters:

  • Entering no parameters is the most common option, and will return all your call detail records for a 13 month period
    - Your report will be live (i.e. updated continually) and will only include the most recent historical data for the past 13
    months, up to and including two hours prior to the present moment.
    - All your numbers and different call contexts (e.g. call-tracking, voice-call, sip, etc.) will be included, but you will still be able to add a filter for these in your report after creating it.
    - The local date included in the report will default to UTC, although there is already a UTC date included in the dataset.

Entering specific dates:

Choosing a timezone:

At the bottom of the form is a checkbox titled "Use report template for new reports". This is checked by default and will load a predefined report template with your data. You will still be able to edit this report, but this is a good starting point for displaying your data.
NB. There is a limit of 1 000 000 records, which will include data from the “Start Date” and might not include data up until the “End Date”.

Step 5: Create a report

After entering your query parameters (remember, not entering any parameters will return all your call detail records for a 13 month period), click on “Connect” in the top right corner. The data source will load and you will be able to see all the different fields for your data.

Once you see this, click on “Create Report”. When you do, a pop-up will appear telling you that "You are about to create a new report with this data source". Confirm this by clicking on “Create Report”.

You are all done!

That’s it. If you chose to use our “Report Template”, you will now have 2 pages of visualizations containing your data, automatically laid out for you.

Interacting with your data in Data Studio

If you click on the “View” button in the top right corner, you can interact with your data. From here, you can change the date, filter on a specific Sudonum number and watch the data change based on your selection.

If you click on the “Edit” button in the top right corner, you can change any of the visualizations and filters or add new ones to customise the data according to your needs. Enjoy!

Removing authorisation for Sudonum Data Studio Connector

Remove your authorisation from the connector directly in Data Studio by clicking on Create, selecting Data Source and searching for “Sudonum”. Then click on the menu item in the top right of the "Sudonum Data" card and select "Revoke Access".


Changing query parameters

I want to change the query parameters that I entered, but I have already created my report. Can I change the query parameters without breaking my report?

Yes. You can change the parameters by accessing your data source in Data Studio home. To do this, click on the Data Studio icon on the report page, then click on “Data Sources” in the left navigation panel. Find the “Sudonum Data” data source and click on it (Note: if you changed the name of the data source, it will appear under the edited name). Above the fields, click on “Edit Connection”. If you entered any parameters earlier, these will be remembered and show up in the relevant fields. You can now re-enter the query parameters and click on “Reconnect” in the top right-hand corner.

Empty report page

I clicked on “Create Report” and expected to see the report template filled with my data, but I just get an empty page. Where is my completed report?

It is possible that the checkbox entitled "Use report template for new reports" on the query parameter page was unselected. Go back to the query parameters page (see above FAQ) and make sure the checkbox is selected.

Missing Data

I know I have call-detail-records from a few months ago, but it's not in my report. Why am I not seeing all my historical data?

First, check if you entered any dates in your query parameters. If you did not enter any dates, you will only receive the last 13 months of your call detail records. If you only entered an end date, you will only receive the 13 months prior to the end date. Entering only a start date as query parameter will return all your data from the start date up until the current date and time. The best option is to enter either only the start date or both the start and end dates to ensure you get the correct date range.

I entered a start date as a query parameter and expected to see all my call detail records up until now, but some of my more recent records are missing. What happened?

The Data Studio connector only allows up to one million records. If you have more than one million records, you will only see your records from the start date up until the one millionth record. Try to add a later date as the currently entered start date to see more recent records.

No Data

I don't have any data in my report. The graphs are empty and some of the visualisations say "No Data". Where is my data?

The most common cause of this message is query parameters that have not been correctly set. When you enter query parameters, make sure you.
Enter the correct dates for which you have call-detail-records.
Another cause is the date range set on the report template. Try narrowing or expanding the date range within a relevant time period to see your data.


Config Errors

If you have entered query parameters and clicked on 'Connect', but you receive a pop-up error, then look for the error in the list below and execute the corresponding troubleshooting solution. If your error is not in the list below or the troubleshooting doesn't fix the issue, please log a support ticket below or let us know at


Datetime for start_date has wrong format. Use one of these formats instead: YYYY-MM- DDThh:mm[:ss[.uuuuuu]][+HH:MM|-HH:MM|Z].


One or both of the dates entered has the wrong format. Re-enter your dates and make sure you enter your dates in the following example format: 2019-02-01 12:00:00.


The start_date cannot be after the end_date.


It is possible that you entered the dates in the wrong fields. Make sure you entered the respective dates in the correct fields.


The start_date cannot be in the future.


The start date entered is in the future, i.e. after the current date and time. Ensure the date entered in the start_date query parameter field is in the past.

Connection Errors

If you attempt to connect your Sudonum data to Google’s Data Studio and you get a "Data Set Configuration Error" on the report page, click on "See Details" to see which error occurred, then look for the error in the list below and execute the corresponding troubleshooting solution. I can see most of my data on the report, but one or more of the visualisations doesn't work and has a "wrench" icon overlaying it. What is wrong?


It is possible that one or more of the data requests were unsuccessful. Refresh the report by clicking on the refresh icon on the report or on the browser. This should resolve the issue.
